Micky needs help for complications with a Total Hip Replacement.

Micky came into our family at just 8 weeks old. It honestly was love at first sight. She has brought us so much joy, love, and emotional support in her 5 young years!! Micky is gentle and kind-hearted. She is amazing with babies and toddlers (we all know how that can be lol). She is an avid swimmer and plays a mean catch! Unfortunately, we noticed Micky didn’t have the same pep in her step—then came a small limp—to not being able to get up into bed with us anymore without help. We took her immediately to the vet and she was diagnosed with hip dysplasia.

My husband, who is literally in love with her, did what he does best and sought out the best surgeons NY has to offer. It landed us in Manhattan, which was quite a hike, but that’s our girl. She got the care she needed and her first surgery in June. She seemed to be healing well. A few months went by and she developed an infection around the implant, which resulted in a horrific abscess. Her leg inflamed 8 1/2” larger than the left, which put us in a panic. We rushed her to the emergency room and she stayed the night. Micky worsened and the abscess burst, losing multiple liters of liquid and blood. Back to the hospital (Long Island Vet Hosp) we went again; this was just Sunday, Oct 19th. (By the way, incredible staff, doctors, and surgeons.) Another ER stay resulted in her needing a full week of IV fluids and antibiotics. Multiple cultures, blood tests, X-rays, and CAT scans. She is being closely monitored before her corrective surgery on Monday, which will then keep her for up to or at least another week to ensure her recovery is proper and successful. So far expenses have reached approximately $30,000 for previous and upfront fees for hospital bills, surgeries, medications, and doctor visits. We DO have insurance for Micky, so we are only seeking support for SOME of the non covered expenses. Any help whatsoever will be gratefully appreciated!
