This is the season of generosity. My dear friend Michael Kouri has been suffering with congestive heart failure (CHF), kidney failure and diabetes for quite some time. He has been on dialysis four days a week, with sessions lasting five and a half hours each day. He often suffers excruciating pain brought on by the treatment. Despite this, he remains positive and happy to talk to people.
Michael was in the hospital for three years solid, admitted just as he was moving into a new home. He lost half his left leg due to sepsis, but he still remains generous with his time to others. Until that sojourn, he was able to drive himself to dialysis, his doctor appointments and complete day-to-day errands. Although he was finally allowed to go home last March, he has had a few setbacks resulting in short hospitalizations. Michael has been waiting for a kidney transplant surgery and is fortunate to have a living donor, but the pandemic and issues with his CHF delayed him from having the necessary procedure. He needs a new electric wheelchair and other devices that will help him live independently. His insurance is declining to accommodate him. Among them are:
- Handicap shower remodel
- Prosthetic leg
- New wheelchair
- Front porch ramp
He is a small businessman and because of the pandemic and being unable to work, his income has dwindled. Throughout his careers, Michael has always given to others, donated his time and energy to non-profit and charitable organizations and supported friends in their growth. When they needed someone to listen, he has been their rock. He has also assisted friends and others, but now he needs help. He wants to be independent and with a little help from us, he can be.
Let’s make a miracle happen for Michael. For anyone who can donate, you will surely help Michael in his time of need. Your generosity would be greatly appreciated.
