Support Needed - Costly Tib Fib Compound Fracture
Donation protected
Hello! Welcome to my story!
I seek assistance to support a devastating freak accident resulting in costly medical bills and a year-long recovery.
On April 28, 2022, I suffered a compound fracture of my tibia and fibula. At a climbing gym hundreds of miles away from home, I stepped off the bouldering wall at around three feet, causing my tibia and fibula to snap and break through my skin. The trauma was so severe that I was told they would have amputated my foot only a few decades ago.
Unfortunately, the hospital failed to account for a drug interaction, which prevented pain meds from working. I suffered in excruciating agony while they set my bones, during my four-day hospital stay, and in the following weeks due to their incompetence.
Another incident in the hospital added to my pain. A nurse's negligence led to a bad fall in my hospital room, bruising my ribs only one day after my surgery. In addition, the hospital required an X-ray following my fall and charged me for the test with little care about how it happened.
It's been around 12 weeks since I broke my leg. Unfortunately, my fibula is still misaligned, and the bone is not mending. My orthopedic surgeon believes I may need another surgery to align my fibula properly and insert a metal plate to hold the bone together.
I live on my own and can barely walk, suffering pain from every step. In addition, as this is my right leg, I have difficulty driving for basic needs. All of this severely impacts my job as well.
Because I am near bankruptcy, I cannot afford to go to physical therapy, setting my progress back significantly aside from what I can find online for exercises.
Please donate what you can because every dollar counts.
One last note: take care and avoid stepping off a climbing wall at 3-4 feet even with a cushioned mat underneath.
Thank you for reading my story.
Respectfully,
Alexandra
