This is our 10-month old boy Meatloaf. We adopted Meaty from the Berks County ARL on Aug. 14th, 2020. When we adopted him out he was severely underweight, and had severe skin issues. He was extremely neglected, fed once a week, and left outside in a backyard from May-August. What we did not know was that his heart was shutting down. (This was learned upon our first vet visit). We were told by the initial vet that he had 3 weeks to a month to live, and there was absolutely nothing we could do. This didn't sit right with us, so we took him to a specialist (cardiologist) and got him on a program to stabilize his heart. He has another appointment in December regarding his heart.
At most recent check up with another primary vet, we were informed he has MANY other issues (including severe arthritis, dermatitis, bowel issues, issues with putting on weight). We were strongly advised to take him to see an internal medicine specialist and receive a ultrasound + biopsy. It is believed he has a severe underlying issue(s) causing this.. such as a cancer or an undiagnosed disease. So that is the next step. We have an initial internal medicine appointment scheduled for Friday, Oct. 16th.
Between veterinary appointment and procedure costs, countless temporary and monthly prescriptions, prescription food, etc.. we have been putting out everything we can for this little boy; in terms of finances, travel to appointments, and extensive at home care. We are asking for your help to relieve some of these costs and help contribute to Meatloaf's road to recovery. Please keep this little boy in your thoughts and hearts, he is our entire world. Thank you.
