Please help me with funds towards a new powerchair
Donation protected
Hi there, my name is Laura and I am 44 years old. I use a powerchair on a daily basis because a number of chronic illnesses. These include hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, fibromyalgia, myalgic encephalomyelitis and complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS). The way this impacts my daily life is mainly severe chronic fatigue, chronic pain and dislocations.
My current powerchair is an absolute lifeline for me to be able to get out of the house and have some semblance of a life. I am able to take my daughter to and from school, I can go around the shops, get out socially, keep up with my daughter at the park and some of the soft play. If you check out my socials as Powerchair Queen you can see some of the stuff that I get up to in my powerchair including the occasional modelling job!
Sadly my current chair is getting to the end of its life. The company that I bought it from is no longer trading and I am unable to get any maintenance or servicing done for it. This includes parts and I am hearing more and more unfortunate noises coming from it. I fear that it won't keep going much longer as its already 6 years old.
With the help of Access Your Life, I have managed to secure funds of £1,500 towards the £2,500 cost of the new powerchair but there is a deadline of May 2025 to use this money otherwise I will lose it.
The NHS will not provide me with any funding towards a powerchair because my home is not accessible and a manual wheelchair is not possible because of the severe chronic fatigue that I experience and I cannot self propel.
I really REALLY need your help with this so that I can keep being a present mum to my daughter, keep going with everyday life and doing the occasional bit of work. Thank you if you have read this far and please consider making a donation, if you are unable to please could you share this page.
Thank you so much again xx
