Help me Help My Sister through her Cancer journey

This is a fundraiser I never dreamed I would be creating…

With heavy hearts but unwavering hope, we are launching a GoFundMe campaign for our beloved Tammy, my sister, who is facing a daunting battle with stage 4 terminal metastatic cancer.

Tammy and her son Zane need your help now more than ever. Our goal is to support Tammy so that she can focus on her treatment and making memories with her family and friends.

We know that cancer is cruel and impacts so many lives, and like so many others we can’t believe that this is happening to our family. Tammy was diagnosed in January last year and underwent 6 weeks of radiation therapy and treatment. It was tough but a PET scan showed promising results that she was on her way to recovery, and Tammy threw herself back into work and life.

Tragically, late last year Tammy got the unthinkable news that her cancer had spread to her lymph nodes and throughout her body, and that this time she was in a fight for her life. We are all still in shock and trying to understand how this could happen to our Tammy, someone who has never asked for anything, who loves her simple life in her cosy home, and who has worked in the service of others in her community since she was just 17.

An aggressive 6-month course of chemo and immunotherapy to slow down the progression of her cancer has had awful side effects and resulted in repeat infections and long hospital stays. Since celebrating her 48th birthday with close friends and family on September 25th, 2023, Tammy has been in and out of hospital, in pain, unwell, and trying to come to terms with her diagnosis.

To make it all worse, she has also had the added pressure of financial hardship and housing insecurity to deal with.

After 11 years of renting the same house which she has lovingly turned into a haven for her family and close friends, she received a vacate notice unless she could pay 90 days rent in advance at a much higher rate. It is crushing, and trying to secure housing and negotiate rent are the last things Tammy wants to be thinking about.

She has spent all of her life savings to keep a roof over her head, money that she painstakingly put aside for her life-long dream - a trip to Paris for her 50th birthday, just two years away.

Help us to lift this burden from Tammy’s shoulders. We want to raise enough money for Tammy to stay in her home without the fear of homelessness looming. We want to give her hope that she may still get to see Paris and live out her dreams.

Her nephews are doing everything they can to help – Chase is taking donations to shave his head in solidarity, and Kiedis will be donating money from his gig at Clairault Winery this Saturday the 24th Feb. Come along from 12-4pm where Kiedis will be playing his auntie Tammy’s favourite songs. Sadly, she’s too unwell to be there, so we’ll be live streaming the gig to her and it would be great to see as many friendly faces there as possible.
