Please Help Me Stay in University
My name is Jhadzia Murphy, and I am currently a freshman at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. I'm the first in my family to attend college and am majoring in Japanese and Computer Science. These past few months in Amherst have been the most wonderful (and stressful) experiences I've had thus far. I've learned a lot from my professors and tutors, and have recieved so much acceptance and civility from my peers. I even got to work in the dining hall near my dorm! My co-workers were pretty interesting people, and really helped me adjust to the hours.
But even during my fall semester, I was really struggling financially. I have a significant gap between my financial aid and my spring tuition bill, with one of my scholarships not paying the school for another month or so after the start of the semester. Even with my job, I couldn't afford books and other nessesities. Through the help of many genorous individuals, I was able to get through the fall, but now that spring classes have started, the school wants me to have this semester's bill payed by March 1st.
I'm also responsible for a bill from Amherst's Health Clinic in regards to an eye surgery I had back in November since the school's health insurance did not cover me for the whole procedure.
As with the fall semester, my family has tried to help me in paying for these expenses, but theres only so much we can do. That's why I am asking you to please help me in continuing college, so that I can keep fighting for my future.
