Please Help me save the Stray Cats in my street!
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
You may know me as Linda from Barlates! As you may be aware I am JUST A BIT obsessed with cats, so when I found out about a stray cat issue at the end of our street I obviously had to get involved!
I found out from a neighbour that there were nearly 20 cats living in bushes and overgrown backyards around the area. They were constantly breeding, so the problem was going to keep getting worse.
I went to the area myself and was shocked to see around 8 cats sitting in someone's front garden! They were all so adorable, some were tiny kittens, others around 4 months old and also adults. I felt so sad for them They looked really skinny, but were quite friendly, in the sense that they let me approach within about 1.5 meters.
Long story short I decided to start trapping them with the help of my partner, and giving them to a cat rescue organization. They get them de-sexed and put them into foster care in order to domesticate them before finding their forever home. Unfortunately, it is currently kitten season, so we were only able to trap 7 of them before there were no more carers and no more funds to de-sex them all.
I am working tirelessly to find more people who are able to foster or adopt them and am making slow progress. In the meantime, we have been feeding them every night to establish a routine, so it will be easier to catch them when we get more carers and funds.
One of the young cats was obviously pregnant, so she was a priority to get off the streets. We have taken her in for now. Her name is Dumpling and she is the sweetest thing
There is another one, who I believe is her brother, who I personally want to foster too, but the verdict will be how Mini and Yoda get along with them!
We called him Dorky because he has a semi bowl cut and is so lanky and awkward looking. He is so affectionate and lets me scratch his head while he's eating. He has the most adorable little meow and runs to greet me every night.
They both have a host of vet bills coming up, made more complicated because Dumpling is pregnant and Dorky has another embarrassing issue, lol - his balls haven't dropped!
There are still at least 8 more cats and kittens that need to be re-homed and de-sexed and these are just the cats in my colony. There are countless colonies like this all over Perth. Now that my eyes have been opened to the issue, it is in my heart to help as many kitties across Perth as possible.
Feeding them and vet bills will cost a lot of money, so that is why I am asking for your help.
PLEASE DONATE!
Even $1 will make a difference. It can be an anonymous donation.
I will keep you updated on what your donations achieve!
Thank you so much in advance!
Love, Linda
