Hello everyone,

My name is Cian. I’ve just passed 21 and earlier this year, I made the difficult decision to leave Ireland because it was no longer affordable to live there. I thought buying a small house in Italy would give us stability, a fresh start, and a safe home. It breaks my heart to say this but, unfortunately, what was promised to us as a “perfect, habitable, problem-free” home by the previous owner and Agency, turned out to be a heartbreaking lie and a scam.

Within the first two months, we discovered serious issues that we had not been told about. We’ve already had to spend over €2,000 of our last savings just trying to make the house liveable:

• Multiple dangerous water system failures

• Faulty electricity systems

• Toxic materials in the house

• Constant repairs that keep draining what little we had left.

Now, the situation has reached a breaking point. The roof is collapsing. Every rainfall causes leaks pouring into the house – flooding our beds, clothes, and furniture and electrics. The ceiling has multiple bulging spots ready to burst, multiple holes and cracks, the electrics are at risk of being destroyed (and dangerous to touch when wet), and tiles on the roof are falling apart. The constant storms this coming season will almost certainly destroy what’s left of the roof, while we have nowhere else to go.

On top of this, I live with autism, disabilities, and long-term health problems from Long Covid. These include heart issues (requiring daily medication like Propranolol), severe GERD, recurring Bell’s Palsy, Liver & Spleen damage that cause other problems aswell as difficulty with speech at times. I often have spells of days bed bound or unable to function normally in society. I am currently unable to work, and the residency process here in Italy has been extremely challenging without income or help. Some days, we struggle to even buy food, let alone pay water or electricity bills or even see a doctor for important medications.

We have spent the last of our savings – €2,000 – trying to hold things together, but we can’t keep delaying the inevitable. Without urgent help, we will lose our home completely and be trapped with nowhere to live and in debt from damages of the surrounding properties.

We are asking for any help you can give – whether it’s a donation, sharing this page, or simply keeping us in your thoughts. Every euro will go directly to:

• Emergency roof repairs to stop flooding

• Replacing ruined essentials (beds, clothing, furniture, electrics)

• Covering medications and basic living expenses while we try to stabilize our situation

This house was supposed to be our safe haven. Instead, it has become a daily battle for survival. Please, if you are able, help us save our home and get back on our feet.
