Please Help Me Save Hera
My name is Claudia, and I am asking for help to save my dog, Hera.
Hera came into our lives one Christmas and everything changed since. Soon after, she welcomed her sister Akita, and together they became more than pets—they became my family, my joy, and my reason to keep going. I truly believe I wouldn’t be here today without them.
Hera is full of life, joy, and personality. She loves meeting new people on walks, showering them with kisses, and insisting on a friendly greeting before moving on. Sometimes she even waits outside shops, quietly hoping someone will notice her and give her a little love. She is fiercely protective of her sister Akita, gentle with visitors, and has an uncanny ability to sense when someone needs comfort. Hera’s tail never stops wagging no matter how bad she feels. Every day, she fills our home with laughter, love, and warmth. Losing her would leave an emptiness that cannot be described.
In 2020, Hera suffered a severe spinal injury that left her temporarily immobile. Watching her struggle was heartbreaking, but through months of intensive care—including hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, laser therapy, and strict rehabilitation—she fought back. Hera regained her mobility, strength, and joy for life, showing all of us just how resilient she is.
This past December, what should have been a routine blood test revealed significant liver abnormalities. Further testing—including an ultrasound, blood panels, urinalysis, a CT scan, and a fine needle aspiration (FNA)—confirmed a very large liver tumour. Thankfully, there is currently no evidence of metastasis, giving us hope that surgery could save her life.
Without surgery, Hera’s condition will gradually worsen, with an estimated life expectancy of 6–12 months and a decline in comfort and quality of life. With surgery to remove the affected liver lobe, she has a strong chance of regaining stability and enjoying meaningful, happy time with her family.
To date, we have spent approximately £5,000 on diagnostics. Surgery, hospitalization, anesthesia, post-operative care, and ongoing monitoring will cost an additional £5,000–£5,500. The specialist clinic has been incredibly supportive, capping the total cost at £9,000 and offering an instalment plan: half payable before surgery, with the remainder split over the following three months.
Hera has given me over twelve years of unconditional love and loyalty. She has carried me through my darkest moments without ever asking for anything in return. She has been my companion, my comfort, and my reason to smile every single day. Now, she faces a fight she cannot face alone. I owe it to her to try.
I am asking for help—not because Hera is “just a dog,” but because she is my family, my baby, my heart. Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward her life-saving surgery. If you can’t donate, sharing her story would mean the world to us.
Hera isn’t just resilient; she is endlessly joyful, loving, and full of life. She makes friends wherever she goes, protects her sister, and has a unique way of making everyone around her feel seen and loved. She is my companion, my joy, and my reason to keep going. Please help me give her the chance she deserves.
With all my gratitude,
Claudia
