This is my friend David Moon, he's only 58 years old and it's likely that he may die soon unless he can get some urgent assistance.  I have known David for more than 36 years having met him during college at Cal-Arts. David is one of the most talented visual artists I have ever known but sadly his life took a very bad turn after he was stricken with severe injury and illness. David and I lost touch for many years but recently we reconnected on the Internet. I was shocked and saddened to learn of his situation which is absolutely dire.

David is currently all alone, homeless and living on the streets... he has nothing and no one to turn to.  He suffered a severe spinal injury after being involved in a hit and run car accident, his back is broken and he's in severe pain 24/7.  If that were not bad enough David has inherited an incurable genetic disease. He's suffered injury and gone blind in one eye and is experiencing mental and neurological problems including seizures. At times he has great difficulty simply speaking and communicating with others because of debilitating tremors. He's also suffering from Cervical dystonia, also called spasmodic torticollis, which is a painful condition in which the neck muscles contract involuntarily, causing his head to twist or turn to one side.  Just getting through the day has become nearly impossible for him, he has full body spasms and it's impossible for him to work at all.  His partial blindness and severe medical condition has also made it impossible for him to draw or paint any longer, a cruel blow for such a talented and gifted artist.

David is currently just barely surviving on the streets in rural Oregon.  He managed to live for a time in homeless shelters and missions however his medical condition often made him a repeated target for violence...people would steal his medication, medication that he dearly needs just to remain coherent and function. 

Now completely alone on the streets, penniless, without his medication and seriously ill he has resorted to drinking in order to kill the pain and dull the reality of his grim existence... and slowly kill himself in the process.  I have no doubt that time is running out fast for my old friend and without professional medical help he's unlikely to survive much longer.

David is a proud man and despite his terrible situation he has NEVER once asked me for money.  I dearly want to help my friend but I don't personally have the resources, finances or skills required to do what is needed in order to save his life and that is why I am now turning to the on-line community... can you help me to help David ?

So what will this money be used for?  Firstly, I need to get David off the streets and into a safe environment.  Secondly, he needs to get into a medically supervised detox facility where he can regain his health... he is currently very, very frail.
Third, he needs to get back on his  proper medication... hopefully once he's safe and feeling better some new opportunities will open up for him... but one small step at a time.  Our main focus now is getting him off the streets, safe and stabilized.

David is a kind, sweet man that doesn't deserve this...the fact that he is still alive is a miracle in-itself.   No human being should be subjected such a fate and knowing that he is all alone in this world, seriously ill and in terrible pain 24/7 is more than I can bear... I must do something !
