Please help me repair adorable Criket’s leg.

Criket is a beautiful 2 & 1/2 American Staffordshire. I first met Criket in the hospital where I work as she was accompanying her owner on various presentations to hospital unwell as his assistance dog. Over time we learned Criket was not a registered assistance dog and needed to be removed from hospital. Rather than remove owner and Criket from the hospital as owner had no one to care for her and required hospital treatment  my animal loving and nurse heart kicked in and I offered to care for Criket while owner stayed in hospital to receive required care.

I cared for Criket various times while owner required multiple hospital stays and my family, my other dog Molly and myself all starting becoming attached to Criket and Criket to us.

Poor Criket was then found to have bilateral cruciate ligament tears (knee surgery), requiring surgery. Owner could not care for Criket in his current residence post her surgery for repair of the first leg. I allowed owner and Criket to stay with me for 6 weeks post her first surgery. I took no money for accommodation during this time.

The surgery was successful and owner left Criket with me after the 6 weeks stating he could not care for her in his current living arrangements as he was concerned she may damage the repaired leg. Owner stated he would make residence friendly for Criket to be able to return with no risk to damaging her legs.

Criket resided with me for a further 10 months becoming part of my family. I did not receive any payments from owner for food or board during this time.

Owner and I had disagreement and Criket was returned to him for approximately 3 weeks and was still requiring her other leg to be repaired. His residence had not been altered at all to allow Criket to live there easily with her knees. I was so worried for her safety and welfare. I notified council and dogs home if Criket was ever surrendered I could be contacted to take her. During the whole time Criket was returned to owner I worried so much for her welfare.

Council did contact me to inform me owner had left Criket with a person as he had been arrested and taken to jail. Criket wandered off from this persons property and became missing for 2 days. I was so distressed I cried instantly and my father and partner went to town where she was missing to search for her.

I had to attend work but posted Criket’s missing on Facebook and was contacted by person who found her and she was returned to me with tears of joy.

On return Criket’s mobility had deteriorated significantly. I returned her to her vet and was recommended by vet that we should repair the next leg as soon as possible.

Vet contacted Criket’s owner and he will not consent to paying for the surgery.

I’m in such a predicament and I really love Criket and want to keep her with me and my family in a caring and safe home. The Owner likely to be in jail for long period and I am making attempts to gain ownership of Criket so she can remain in a stable home. The owner has made no attempt to contact me regarding Criket since this time.

Problem is I cannot afford the surgery and Criket is a young strong dog and essentially requires the surgery to improve her mobility for a happy life.

I will give Criket the home she requires now and likely for rest of her life and the care she will require post the surgery.

I just really need need some help to pay for the operation. Any donations greatly greatly appreciated to help me get Criket repaired and moving forward with a happy stable life

Please help me to complete Criket’s rescue by donating and completing her surgery for that happy healthy life she deserves.
