On Sunday the 5th of October, I broke both of my arms in an unfortunate bicycle accident. As you can imagine, this has been devastating and has resulted in me currently needing care . Additionally my injuries that mean I am unable to perform or play guitar, and therefore unable to work. This has of course brought concerns about my career and even playing guitar however the doctors and physiotherapists have explained that I should be able to recover.
I have been documenting my extremely painful journey of recovery, in hope that I might be able to help musicians and non musicians going through similar injuries in the future. however the mounting costs of medical bills and physical therapy which are expensive and are not covered by Canada's national healthcare system
Asking for financial support isn't something I have ever done or felt comfortable with but I feel it's the only way since I am not able to work properly for the foreseeable future while I attend physical therapy.
I have been instructed to attend physical therapy sessions (95 CAD) twice (190 CAD) a week for 4 weeks (760 CAD) in the initial stage of treating the trauma. It is hoped that by that point, enough progress will have been made that the additional sessions attended afterwards will be for strengthening, again starting with another 4 weeks. (760 CAD)
I shall be attending sessions at Yorkville Sports Medicine Clinic , being treated by Kayo De Souza. Kayo De Souza has helped me within previous injuries such as de quervain's tenosynovitis and tennis elbow. I was however able to work at the time as these conditions aren't as serious as having two broken arms.
