I want you to meet my uncle, Aristeo Arroyo. Who has been a father figure to me since I was a child. He is a devoted man who puts loved ones above all else. Every waking hour was spent caring for those who needed him. He doesn’t fall short of a supportive husband, loving father, and encouraging grandfather. This is a man who has worked his whole life in order to give his children what he never had. A man whose home could be a safe-haven to all. A man who would give you the food off his plate and the clothes off his back. His smile is infectious and his laugh touches the soul. He gives without expecting anything in return. He deserves the moon but would never ask for it. To know such a man who has served in a battle for a peaceful livelihood, was denied, should be a crime . It has been a treacherous path that started out as a tumor found in his colon. Several surgeries alongside too many sleepless nights, which later, he was left with a colonoscopy bag. However, good news never seems to last long. Aris has been diagnosed with cancer; news shattering everyone who’s grown close to him. Chemotherapy has forced my uncle out of work for over six months now, they have been left unsure and afraid at what the future may hold. Keeping the same roof that their children, and others who have come to call it a second home, over their heads has been a financial obstacle all on its own. Now with medical bills piling up, along with the emotional and physical strain my family is suffering, we do not know how long we may manage. It pains us to say we can not give back all he has given us. We The Arroyo Family and The Arvizu Family are left writing to you. All I ask of you is to help me give back the safety and comfort this family needs.
