Please help me pay off my adapted accessible vehicle

Hi, my name is Sue, and I’m reaching out for help to continue living an independent and active life. In March 2025, I purchased an adapted accessible vehicle that cost £40,000+. This vehicle is essential for my daily life, allowing me to travel safely and comfortably with my extra-wide powerchair, which is necessary because of my condition, lipoedema.

I initially took out a loan to buy the vehicle, but making the monthly payments and paying off the loan is currently a challenge. I’ve also spent around £2,500 on further adaptations, insurance, and recovery cover — because I need to ensure I can get specialist help if I break down.

This vehicle isn’t just a car; it’s a lifeline. It’s the only vehicle that accommodates my wider powerchair and gives me the freedom to do things many take for granted. Since I’ve had it, I’ve been able to:

- Collect my grandson from school

- Attend events and visit family and friends

- Take my partner to hospital appointments

- Enjoy days out with loved ones, including trips with family from overseas

- Visit a dear friend recovering from hospital in her garden

- Shop independently in my hometown for the first time

- Go on holiday to Devon with adapted accommodation near the sea

This vehicle has truly transformed my life, giving me the independence I need to stay connected, active, and engaged with my community.

I am asking for support to help me pay off the remaining balance or to cover the costs associated with maintaining and improving this essential vehicle. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a big difference in my life.
