It’s been a while since I’ve posted an update about my cancer journey. It’s been a while since I’ve done much else but engage with insurance companies, providers, fight for necessary, existential services that were interrupted when my insurance group abruptly pulled out of my insurance company as of 1 May, forcing me to go with the group my oncologist takes but none of my other providers do, get the treatments I can, have two life-threatening reactions to two different chemo drugs, finally find a drug that doesn’t try to kill me but does create hyper nerve sensitivity in my extremities and mouth, which is triggered primarily by temperatures colder than my body and the actual treatment at the IV site, shots to stimulate white blood cell production, and sleep…except on chemo nights, when I have insomnia.

The good news is that I’m down to about the last two months of treatment. Longer than we’d hoped but there have been many interruptions.

The challenging news is that I haven’t been able to do any type of real work with any success. My brain is fried. My energy is nonexistent, my focus and sharpness have left the building, and my bills have piled up to dangerous levels. Oh, and that’s been another time suck: futilely attempting to procure assistance. Thanks to the dumpster fire that’s going on politically, most resources have dried up. The ones that are still out there have monumental waiting lists.

This is not my beautiful life. And I’ve waited too long to do this because it’s just not comfortable for me…

I am asking for help from any of my friends who have the resources. Please do not put yourself in distress to assist. While any and all amounts are greatly appreciated, I only want what people can spare. I know so many of us are struggling. I will add a GoFundMe link today. My ultimate goal will be $20K USD, about the amount I’ll need to stay housed and with utilities and operate my car through this treatment. I’m thankfully fine on food.
