Please Help Me Pay For a Mobility Scooter
Donation protected
Hi my name is Mark and of June last year I was diagnosed with bladder and prostate cancer and then the following month, July I had a stroke which left the left side of my body paralysed. I was in hospital for quite a few weeks then was transferred to rehabilitation for my paralysis where I worked with professionals to try to regain the function of the left side of my body, and then I was transferred to transitional care where I continued to work hard with professionals who helped me to regain a lot more function than I had attained in rehabilitation. This was over a gruelling five month period which has been the toughest time of my life. Things have been really tough with medical costs piling up as well as the normal daily living expenses mounting up. I’m not yet able to walk unassisted, I can walk a few metres with a walking stick but it is very taxing and takes a lot out of me. However I’m proud of how far I’ve come considering the Specialists and Physios at the hospital said that I would never walk again and that I’d be in a wheelchair for the rest of my life. Since I can’t walk anymore than a couple of metres assisted by a walking stick without getting worn out, I need help to be able to get around in order to improve my quality of life. I’ve been struggling a bit with depression being home-bound and having to rely on everyone else around me for help (which I know they’re happy to give). It’s also very humbling to have to ask others for help financially, but I just don’t have the money to pay for all of my medical expenses, bills and the thing that I require most, a Mobility Scooter. One of my friends, Josh, has been kind and generous enough to temporarily lend me his father-in-law’s Mobility Scooter for a trial period to get used to it, but it’s his father-in-law’s and they need it back. Just having used the Mobility Scooter a couple of times gave me back the feeling of having my own freedom, my wings, like a new lease on life, instead of being stuck at home and not being able to do much which has been the hardest part for me as I was always so active out and about. Please help me get back my wings! Any donation no matter how big or small is humbly appreciated.
Thank you,
With gratitude,
