Hello, my name is Barry. I never thought I would do something like this but friends encouraged me to tell my story and at least try for some help even though it may be difficult to ask because I have always been the one to provide assistance.

I joined the Air Force right out of high school and stayed four years. After that, I was a police officer in Blytheville Ar.

Then I had a car accident in which I sustained a spinal cord injury that caused me to use a motorized wheelchair. That occurred 40 years ago. During that time I worked for the state to advocate for people with disabilities. I also advocated for students with disabilities in the schools to be sure they got what they are entitled to by law.

Anyway, I say all that to say that I have always prided myself on helping others. Now I am in a situation where I am reaching out for a little help. I need to buy a new wheelchair-equipped van so that I may maintain my independence.

I have obtained all the assistance I am eligible for but I still will have to finance over 49,000 dollars.
