My 12-year-old son is just a regular grumpy pre-teen, but has akways had a huge heart. He just started middle school and was so excited. He’s also trans and just learning to find pride in who he is.

Recently, two boys began bullying him. They called him slurs, questioned his gender, and said cruel things no child should ever hear. That night he made a plan to take his own life.

We got him to the hospital right away. Doctors said he was at high risk and admitted him to keep him safe..

My son is getting treatment and started Zoloft. He sounds calmer and a little more hopeful. He’ll come home next week and begin an intensive outpatient program with group and individual therapy.

I’m doing everything I can but the costs are already more than I can handle. The hospital stay, therapy, and basic needs for my kids are adding up fast. I just want to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table.
