I have never done a GoFundMe before, but have been encouraged by friends due to this unique situation. In mid-January, my son and I found an abandoned lop-ear pet rabbit up in a local park. She was very friendly and obviously an unwanted pet dumped there. Took her to the vet and Bun Bun was given a clean bill of health, so we decided to keep her. 22 days later, on the morning she was scheduled for her spay surgery, I discovered 4 tiny babies had been born overnight. This was a complete shock, unexpected, and not a happy moment for me! I had committed to care for Bun Bun, but cannot afford the costs associated with 5 rabbits! In order to find good homes for the babies, I must wait until they are weaned, vaccinated for the deadly RHDV2 virus, microchipped, and spayed/neutered. My son & I qualify for 3 spay/neuter vouchers through the City of L.A., and I have found a low-cost vaccine clinic with coupons. Two vaccinations per rabbit, plus microchipping all 5 (required) with the coupons is $615.00. The 2 spay or neuter surgeries are approximately $335.00 each. The bare minimum I need to cover these costs is $1285.00. The babies are a little over 3 weeks old now, and very adorable. The first vaccination appointment is March 11 & my birthday is the next day.
