Hello, my name is Ishamar Gentles (Isha), I am a Jamaican-Canadian. I’m reaching out with a heavy heart after my family back home in Jamaica, Trelawny in the community of Hague was deeply affected by Hurricane Melissa. The Hurricane tore through my home community and left our family home severely damaged — the roof was blown off, and nearly everything inside was destroyed with water. My grandmother and mother lost beds, clothing, electronics, food and household appliances. I am happy my all my family members are alive, but homes are destroyed. Some items like textile and clothing, mattresses are being placed on the lawn, trying to dry but at times there is afternoon rain. Its truly difficult.
Starting over isn't easy and the road ahead is long and overwhelming. I am trying to raise funds to repair the roof, replace essential items, and make our home safe and livable again.
Every dollar, every share, and every prayer makes a real difference in helping us recover and rebuild my family's lives after this devastating storm.
Your kindness means more than words can say. From the bottom of my heart — thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping my family find hope again.
With gratitude,
Isha
