Hello friends and family –
As many of you know, my sweet brother Josh, and his beautiful wife Linda have been in a very difficult battle with Covid. They both started out self-treating at home, but by last Friday night, Josh was having so much trouble breathing throughout the night that he ended up having to be rushed by ambulance to the Salem ER on Saturday morning. He was admitted shortly thereafter, and it was soon apparent that it was necessary for him to be transferred to ICU for closer and constant care.
In the midst of all of this, Linda found out that she now has pneumonia from COVID. She is still very sick, but trying her hardest to get better to be with her husband, and my sweet brother Josh. It has been so heartbreaking for them to have to battle this separately.
Sadly, last night before midnight, Josh’s O2 levels dropped dangerously low, even while on the BIPAP, and they weren’t able to bring it back up, leaving them no choice but to intubate him and put him on the ventilator. ☹
The medical staff at the Salem Hospital decided that it might be best to get him up to OHSU where they can hook him up to an ECMO machine, which pulls his blood out, oxygenates it, and puts it back into his body, essentially doing what his lungs are not capable of right now. So as of a little over an hour ago, they loaded him up and are transporting him by ambulance to OHSU. They were hoping to life-flight him, but couldn’t due to cloud cover. We are praying that he is in the best hands possible for the care he needs right now. Make no mistake, Josh is in the fight of his life right now, and he has a long road ahead of him unfortunately. ☹
I know my brother, and I know that he would NEVER even consider asking for help. Neither of them would. But I also know that they both work extremely hard to provide for their family and take great pride in doing so. Having said that, with them both being out of work and without pay during this horrific time in their life, they are going to be hit huge financially. Not only with their normal household bills, expenses, and mortgage, but I can only imagine the medical bills they will face on top of that with Josh’s continued hospitalization in the ICU (it will be at least 10 days at minimum but very possibly more) not to mention the two ambulance rides that he has already had to take. The financial burden will most definitely be great and far more than the goal I am setting. But I have faith in that we will help them to the very best of our ability!
None of us are ones to ever reach out to ask for help like this, but I think that their family will certainly need all of the help they can get right now. I know in my heart that even though Josh would never ask, he would also not want his family to suffer. He would want them to be taken care of while he cannot provide for them on his own. Linda needs take this time to fully heal her body, and be able to recover from this horrible virus, so that she can be there for Josh when he needs her the most. Not mention be there for the rest of her family too.
If you are able to donate to help them out during this very difficult time, we would be forever grateful! Every bit helps! Even if you can’t donate at this time, if you could send up a prayer, well wish, or positive vibe toward his/their complete healing and restoration, we would greatly appreciate that too! Also, please share to help get the word out! I can’t think of a more deserving couple to get the help that they need right now. They have and would do the same for anyone who needed it, in a heartbeat.
Thank you so much for your time, and I thank you in advance for your help! You all mean the world to me! You support has been nothing short of overwhelming! Thank you ENDLESSLY!
