Hi everyone! My name is Jack Johnston and I am 11 years old. For the last 5 years I have been training in Karate and I am now a Brown Belt competing in tournaments around Australia.
I train 5 times a week, plus training at home, I live and breathe Karate.
This year I also started High School and was accepted into the Sports Merit Programme at Benowa High School, the top ranked State High School on the Gold Coast. Like with Karate, I put 100% into my schooling, last year placing second in the Griffith University Gold Coast STEM Cup.
In the past twelve months I have won Gold medals in Karate at Local, Regional and State levels, and recently Silver at the Nationals. Once again I have qualified for the GKR World Cup, the last one was held in the Gold Coast in 2017 where I won Silver for Kata and Silver for Kumite. This year the World Cup is being held in June in the UK and I am desperate to get over there to compete. I am part of the GKR Karate Gold Coast Gladiators Tournament Team, we recently competed at the GKR National Tournament in Melbourne where we all bought home medals. We are holding numerous fundraising events to help us get to the UK, however I will need to raise a large portion of funding for myself . Any contribution, whether it be big or small will be greatly appreciated.
