Please Help Me Get To Texas, I Need My Family

Those of you who know me well know that I have a very difficult time asking for help, so for the most part I just don’t. However, I am in a pretty dire situation. I lost my job on May 22nd and am still waiting on unemployment. When I spoke to them on Tuesday I was informed that my case needed to be adjudicated and the average time for a decision, because of the pandemic, is 12-16 weeks, and it may or may not go in my favor.

I am pretty private about these things, and the shame is consuming me, but it is what it is.  My mental health has deteriorated to the point that I am no longer able to hold down a job. I have been struggling with my mental health since my teenage years and it has just progressively worsened, to the point that I can no longer deny how sick I am. In the past three years I have had 7 jobs, SEVEN. Prior to that I had worked for the same company for 8 years, and before that had worked for a company for 22 years. I am scared, I have no one to fall back on; my father died when I was 17, and my mother died 6 1/2 years ago.  My physicians are encouraging me to file for disability, which I tried to do seven jobs ago but it took too long to get a decision, so I had to withdraw my application and go back to work.

I was able to pay my July rent and have enough to pay my car insurance this month, but then will have literally no income for at the very least two more months if my unemployment is approved. I have applied for several part-time jobs, hoping I can be successful working just part-time, but I’ve had no responses, which is understandable given the pandemic, but could also be linked to my poor work history these past three years.

This is by far the most difficult thing I have ever had to do, asking for help, but I don’t know what else to do. Mental illness is hard, asking for help is hard, but I am just not well and I am so tired.

I need help getting to Abilene, Texas where my daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughters have recently been restationed by the Air Force and have offered to let me stay with them while I again try to file for disability. It will take me a bit to get organized, so I will probably have to pay one more month of rent and my other monthly bills, and then will need to rent a moving truck, a dolly to tow my car, and have money for gas, meals and hotels. Unfortunately, it is quite expensive.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. I know it is a hard time financially for many, but any help will be greatly appreciated. In addition, if you can share this, that would be wonderful.

Much love,

Terra ❤️
