Please Help Me Get Past This

My name is Teresa Rodriguez. The truth is, I feel defeated. My home is being threatened, and I don't know how to get past this. I feel abandoned by people around me. Heck, my phone doesn't even ring. Anyway, enough whining. Here is my story: I have what is called a dual pulmonary embolism. That means I have some very serious blood clots in my lungs. Approximately 95% of my left lung and 50% of my right lung have clots. They weren't caused by anything. They just happened. Unfortunately, I was misdiagnosed when I went to the emergency room, in May and told I had bronchitis. Prior to my hospitalization, I was told by three doctors that it was pneumonia.

I was told by the emergency room at St Vincent's that I was being sent to the University of New Mexico Hospital for a procedure but that I was not going to survive it and to speak to anybody I needed to and make arrangements. So, I was transferred over thinking that I was going there to die. Upon arrival at the University of New Mexico, they sent me in for a thrombectomy. This is where they go in through the groin all the way up through the heart and into the lungs to attempt to remove clots. Because I was in such critical condition, they were not able to use anesthesia. I was awake during the entire 2 hour procedure, which was originally meant to take only 30 minutes. That was no fun at all, let me tell you. Unfortunately, because my clots are so dated, they weren't able to remove very many. Anyway, they couldn't remove as much as they wanted because they had become sticky and started clinging to the walls of my lungs. Had they caught it much earlier, it would be a completely different scenario. Apparently, I survived the whole thing due to a random defect in my heart, which is a small hole that opened up because of the clots which otherwise wouldn't be visible. It basically ghetto rigged my entire system and kept me alive.

Several weeks in the ICU at UNMH, and I was happy to be home. It will, however, be a very long road to recovery, and although I don't look it, am still very, very sick. We are hoping for a full recovery, and this should happen in about a year to start showing any changes. In the meantime, I'm on blood thinners, diuretics, and oxygen. I spend most of my time sleeping and have very little appetite. I'm also still very weak. I am grateful to still be alive and fighting these clots. I still have a long way to go, but with continued prayers and my stubbornness, I am sure I'll beat this.

I am still not cleared to work, as I am very limited on what I am able to do. Small things like leaning over are forbidden as well as things like stretching or carrying anything more than 5 pounds. My mom has decided to throw a benefit for me, as I was the one who had been paying the mortgage for my grandmother since my grandpa passed away and other basics, like my car payment. I am truly struggling and need help.
I really hope you will consider helping me. Although it is a long shot, I can't help but try.

Thank you!
