Please help me get my green card & secure my future in USA
Shalom friends!
Let me introduce myself, my name is Gemma and I am 32 years old. I am from the United Kingdom and have been living here in the United States for almost 4 years. I am currently out of status in the country, which is very unsettling to me. I am married to and American citizen which makes me eligible for a green card, and then citizenship.
Due to legal restrictions I am unable to legally work to bring in any income to pay for my green card process without facing deportation. My husband doesn't generate enough income after our bills and other expenses to be able to afford to pay for my green card process. As I mentioned earlier I have been here for almost 4 years out of status and have decided I need to take action to get it. The past 4 years have been rough, navigating through hard seasons. I have been homeless, had my son pass away and then get pregnant with our second child not long after loosing our son. Thankfully our daughter lived and has just turned 1 year old. These seasons of hardship have put the priority of getting my green card on the backburner. And a lot of the process is out of my control since I cannot legally generate an income to pay for it. The financial side getting my green card is the biggest burden i am facing, if the finances are taken care of the process can actually be fairly straightforward.
Since becoming a mother I am feeling the pressure to get my application sent off asap. I would be lying if I said I didn't have fear of being separated from my husband and daughter which I believe is the driving force of me wanting to get the ball rolling with my green card.
There are other large factors as to why I need my green card. There have been seasons of great financial struggle where it would have been extremely helpful for me to be able to earn money, just to be able to stay afloat with the bare necessities. Don't get me wrong my main priority is staying home and taking care of our daughter, so any income i would create would be passive and able to do from home. On top of that I would love to get my drivers license and open a bank account so i can do simple things like go to the store or go to appointments without having to burden others in needing regular rides. Also whilst not essential, having the opportunity to visit my friends and family would be the cherry on top of the cake for me. (I actually cannot leave the united states until the application is sent off without being barred for 10 years)
For 4 years I feel like I have been a burden on people around me, depending on others for so much. And i would like to be sufficient in the small things like going to the store, or taking my baby to the park, or buying something as needed as it arrises
I would like to feel the freedom of being able to be lawfully here in this country and to be released of the burden that is on my shoulders.
I want to stay in the United States because even though initially I didn't want to come here, this country has really grown on me immensely. I have seen a kindness, a generosity and a willingness to serve from the people here. I have never witnessed kindness like it in all my life. I gave birth to both of my children here and I have made some true life long friends. Not to mention this is where my husband is from. I would like to continue the life that we have started to create here, I would just like to continue with the basic freedoms that I believe every human is entitled too.
I have spoken with an immigration lawyer who has informed me that the cost will be $8800, and i am really eager to get started in this process as soon as possible.
I thank you so much for taking the time to read this and if you feel led to help me in any way I will be eternally grateful to you. Your generosity could literally change my life forever.
