My name is Monica, and I am a single mother from Haverhill, Massachusetts, desperately trying to get my 10-month-old baby girl into safe and stable housing.

For months, my daughter and I have been living with extremely difficult housing conditions involving cockroaches, mold, pests, moisture, and sanitation concerns. I have spent countless hours cleaning, sanitizing, washing her clothes and belongings, checking her sleeping areas, and doing everything I can to create a clean environment for her, but this situation has become bigger than what I can fix on my own.

I have documented the conditions, reported my concerns, worked with local agencies, and ultimately brought the situation to Housing Court, where my case is still ongoing. I never imagined that simply trying to provide a safe home for my baby would turn into such a long and exhausting fight.

At the same time, my financial situation has changed drastically.

Shortly after becoming a mother, I lost my full-time job under circumstances that I believe involved discrimination, which I have pursued through the appropriate process. Since then, I have experienced significant financial hardship while trying to care for my daughter, navigate my housing situation, and rebuild our lives.

Today, my biggest concern is simple: I need to get my daughter into a safe home.

I have reached out to housing programs, organizations, agencies, and other resources for assistance. I continue to explore every option available to us, but relocating requires money that I simply do not have right now.

Funds raised through this GoFundMe will help us with safe housing and relocation expenses, a security deposit and other move-in costs, moving and storage expenses, temporary housing if necessary, replacing essential baby items and household belongings affected by our living conditions, and other basic necessities needed to start over.

I am not asking for anything luxurious. I am asking for the opportunity to give my daughter a clean, healthy and stable place to grow up.

As a mother, it is incredibly difficult to admit that I cannot solve everything by myself. But right now, I need help.
