Help Me Get Home to Say Goodbye to My Father, Mike

My name is Andrea (Deseree) Moore, and I’m reaching out during one of the most heartbreaking times of my life.

My beloved father, Mike, has just passed away in Cape Town, South Africa. I’m currently in the UK, and the reality that I may not be able to return home to say goodbye, attend his funeral, or support my family during this time is incredibly painful.

I lost my mum when I was just 14 years old, and now losing my dad feels like losing the last piece of that foundation. The thought of not being there to honour him, to say goodbye, and to stand with my loved ones is heartbreaking.

The cost of last-minute international travel is more than I can manage alone — and in addition to getting home, I also want to help contribute to the funeral expenses. It means everything to me that my father is laid to rest with the love, dignity, and respect he deserves.

I also hope to bring my son, Dom, with me. He never had the chance to meet his grandfather, and he’s never been to South Africa to connect with his roots. As difficult as this moment is, it’s also a meaningful opportunity for him to begin understanding where he comes from and who his grandfather was.
