Please Help Me Get Back to Project Walk!!
Donation protected
Hello my name is LeeAnn. I'm trying to raise money to go back to Project Walk Boston. In 2010 I got into a tragic snowboarding accident where I hit a patch of ice and went over a cliff. I got a Spinal Cord Injury and was paralyzed from the waste down.
I was doing physical therapy when I was told about Project Walk and immediately looked for grant money to go. The sad part about Project Walk is that its not covered by insurance companies because "its not medically necessary to walk" and Project Walks whole concept is to get people walking again! So I had to find grant money which was extremely hard to do. Project Walks prices have gone up since I was going back in 2018. I stopped because I ran out of money got diagnosed with epilepsy.
At Project Walk I made so many gains I would have not made in a regular physical therapy setting. I was shocked, every time I went I did something new or surprised myself with what I could do! They have equipment there that is specialized for people with mobility issues. You get a personal one on one trainer. And its more of a gym setting where they push you to do things and motivate you. I am able to walk with leg braces and crutches and haven't in a while because I haven't gone to Project Walk.
My overall goal is to get out of this damn wheelchair and be able to walk on my two feet again!
Thank you for taking time to read this,
LeeAnn
