Hi, my name is Kierin. I am 31 years old now, but when I was 17 months old, I was diagnosed with a rare condition called Alexander's Leukodystrophy.
When I was 12 years old I managed to get a wheelchair that enabled me to stand, so that I could perform daily activities independently, however for the last several years the chair no longer functions appropriately and is completely worn. Now I am unable to stand, and so I find simple tasks and hobbies such as cooking, which I love to do much more challenging.
I am seeking your support in raising funds for a Permobil F5V5 wheelchair. I recently had a consultation with the company at our house, who brought an ex display model, which will cost £20,822.
As someone with a rare genetic disorder, it has not always been easy to live my life to the fullest, but I remain strong and positive. I have also passed my driving test which meant the world to me, and so it's important that I’m able to get my new wheelchair before Motability can make the adjustments required for me to drive in an adapted car. This will give me the independence to do things others take for granted as a normal part of their every day life, such as going to work and spending time with the people I love.
I am starting this GoFundMe campaign with the hope that you will join me in raising funds for my new wheelchair. Any contribution, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated and will go a long way in helping me get my Permobil F5V5 wheelchair.
I believe that with your support, we can reach our goal and help me get the mobility aid that I need to live a more independent and fulfilling life.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for considering making a contribution to this campaign. Your support means everything to me.
