Please Help Me Get A Headstone For My Son
Hello, my name is Krystal. I am a single mother of 3 children. My oldest son, Jaylin was diagnosed with T-Cell Lymphoma in December of 2020 just months after graduating high school. He was hospitalized for a month due to the type of cancer he had. Everything was going good with his treatments. In December of 2021, things took a turn for the worse. He was rushed to the children’s hospital in Louisville after collapsing in the dining room. The hospital really didn’t tell us anything. I called his doctor the next morning at UK Hospital and she told us to get there in 2 hours. We got on the road and arrived to the hospital. Jaylin got sent down to radiology to get scans and then we were told to sit in a room. Doctor comes in and tells us that his cancer had progressed and that there was fluid buildup around his lungs making it hard for him to breathe so they were going to admit him. The next day he went into surgery to get a drain tube placed for the fluid buildup, do a lumbar procedure and a biopsy of his bone marrow. Once the results came back the doctor told me that the lumbar procedure came back fine. The biopsy of his bone marrow showed it full of leukemia cells. So his cancer had changed from Lymphoma to Leukemia. The 2 cancers are just alike, but one is far more aggressive. He would need a bone marrow transplant and I was not a match so he went onto to the national registry. He stayed in the hospital for a month and a half. He was discharged, but the doctor wanted to readmit him in 7 days because the chemo didn’t respond to his body. On January 19, 2022 we went to the emergency room because he was having trouble breathing again. Jaylin got admitted into the hospital. The doctors ran some tests and seen that fluid had built up around his lungs again. On February 10, 2022, Jaylin went back into the operating room to get a drain tube placed, biopsy of the bone marrow, and a lumbar procedure. The next day, the doctor pulled me out of the room to talk with me privately. She told me that the biopsy came back and that it was bad. The cancer cells had rose from 78% to 95%. There was nothing else that they could do. He couldn’t get a transplant because the cancer was out of control. I lost it. I called the family and told them the news. I drove back home to Louisville to tell Jaylin’s little brother and little sister that their big brother won’t be coming home. So being that Jaylin was 19, he had some decisions to make. He chose to stop all treatments and he chose to be DNR once his heart stopped. On February 17, 2022, Jaylin took his last breath once I left out of the room to get some air. I buried my child on February 25 in Louisville, Kentucky.
As a year and a half has passed, Jaylin still does not have a headstone as I cannot afford one at the moment. My finances have gone downhill since my son has passed. I feel so bad as his mother that I cannot provide one for him. I am putting my pride to the side to ask for donations for a headstone. This would mean the world for me and my children. Anything helps please. Thank you for reading.

Love Always and God Bless
