Please help me fundraise to extend an aviary

Hello everyone

I have set a go fund me up, to try and raise funds towards extending one of my 5 pigeon enclosures.

This will be my free-fly aviary.

Over the last few months we have had a very stressful time with our local female sparrow hawk, who spends her day watching over my garden.

Luckily she hasn’t killed any of my birds, but we have had far too many close calls, which means for the foreseeable future I will be keeping the pigeons inside… unless she decides to hunt elsewhere.

The pigeons have become traumatised and so have I.

And over half have even stopped wanting to come out to fly.

This aviary is already a fair size at 18ft by 6ft, but to house able bodied birds permanently, with how many I have in there, I feel the bigger the better so we will be extending by another 6ft wide.

I will be needing to buy 8 new aviary panels, 6 corrugated roofing sheets, large tarpaulin for the floor to put wood chip on, wood chip bags x 10 to fill this size, extra wood for skirts to attach the tarp, paint and all the fixings / screws.

And I will have to get more bits and bobs, such as nesting boxes, perches etc

It’s looking to cost around £600 to fully kit it out.

It’s a lot of money, but unfortunately it’s something that has to be done, as their welfare is my priority and the space is not big enough for how many birds are in there.

I have also spent similar on another aviary that needed work doing and have bought another smaller enclosure for a couple of my disabled pigeons so they can live outside.

So I am sadly now out of pocket completely.

I will always strive to meet their needs, in every way I physically, mentally, financially can, but I do need help to fund this.
