Hello, I am Ruba, displaced within my country.

22 years of suffering, I have seen nothing in my homeland but wars and destruction. Since childhood, I have witnessed one war after another, with only brief breaks from the devastation. In every instance, I have smelled not death but fear. Yet, I have never complained about my homeland, which I love. However, this bloody extermination of my people has driven me to seek survival, the greatest form of resistance. Like anyone, I should have the right to live, to dream, to have ambitions. I have always sought something better and to change a painful reality that no one could bear.

Now, my greatest wish is simply to sleep peacefully without fear, to find clean water to drink, water to bathe with, and wood to light a fire.

The cost of leaving Gaza is approximately $6,500. My friend Rozina, who lives in England, is trying to raise funds for me and my family. My family includes my younger sister, my brother, and my married sister who has more than 9 children. My daughter also needs monthly treatment because she developed a chronic illness due to displacement, and she needs treatment abroad as well.
