I’m in need of an iron infusion and it is not covered under universal healthcare unless life threatening.

Since 2022, I haven’t been able to work in a traditional way due to autonomic dysfunction. I did everything I could to keep going and was still able to earn an income by subcontracting my work and managing things behind the scenes. Unfortunately, that income is now gone, and I don’t have any funds for a needed iron infusion.

Though I’ve always had an issue with iron absorption, After six months of prolonged bleeding, due to adenomyosis, and fibroids, I’m now fully anemic. Boarder line severe. Because of that prolonged blood loss, my iron levels aren’t able to recover with supplements alone. It’s taken a huge toll on my health and my ability to function day to day.

What makes this especially frustrating is that even in Canada, iron infusions aren’t covered under universal healthcare because iron is considered a medication as it’s provided through a pharmacy. Luckily, I do have insurance, and it covers most of the cost, but I’m still responsible for the remaining fees which I simply can’t afford right now.

My doctors have been clear that waiting would allow my condition to worsen to a dangerous level. This infusion is needed now to stabilize my health.

I’m asking for $461.82 (or as close too as possible) to help cover:

• The remaining cost of the iron

• Administration and clinic fees

This treatment would help bring my iron levels back up, reduce my symptoms and also help reduce the symptoms of the autonomic dysfunction as well, and give me a chance to start recovering instead of continuing to decline. The iron infusion is one of many treatments I need to be on the road to living a normal life again.
