Help My Cancer Recovery After an Unplanned Surgery
Donation protected
I want to give an update and a HUGE thank you for all your love, support, kind words, calls, visits, and help with day to day life, since I announced my Breast Cancer diagnosis. Your generosity has allowed me to focus on healing without the financial stress of not working. It has helped me with rent, bills, co-pays, and most importantly keeping my health insurance.
After the first surgery I became ill a month later. I had developed cellulitis and other complications and after a short hospitalization, I had a second surgery to address the cellulitis, drain a pocket of fluid, remove scar tissue, surgical mesh, and the first reconstruction implant. They replaced the first implant with a different type, used a different mesh for support, and prescribed a stronger antibiotic.
I’ve been recuperating at home for a little over a week and so far am doing well. The unfortunate downside is that I’m back on the original set of restrictions including not working, lifting things that weigh over 5lbs, driving, and flying. This is particularly painful in that my Dad’s cancer has advanced rapidly and is being given just 3 weeks - 3 months to live, with an emphasis on the shorter end of the estimate. Fortunately, his pain is well managed, but his mental and physical states have deteriorated substantially. I maintain hope that I’ll be able to fly to PA to see him, but it seems unlikely.
With infinite hope,
Love, Susan
