Help desperately needed to avoid eviction after 25 years
Hi! I'm Erin, and thank you for clicking to check this desperate plea of help. I'm 48, and have lived in my home 25 years. My husband and (step, but we don't use that word) daughter turned it into a loving home. What we couldn't foresee is my husband getting sick, leaving him disabled and in bed since 2010. We lost him in Nov 2023, making it go from a two income household to no income. I've been banging on doors like crazy trying to find & keep a job since then. I have the desire to work. I knew the day would come, but I've pushed my limits, tried two different jobs, and then my dr told me things are getting very rough and I have to face the fact now, and accept it, that I'm disabled and need to file for disability. By doing so, I can't work for a year prior to filing. What Drs, therapists, specialists, and any other healthcare people don't know how to help with is how we're supposed to make it financially until we get approved, which can take years. I've been to every government program that I know of and either they didn't get funding or it's late coming, or they won't help because (gasp) I DON'T HAVE A JOB!!! One person said to call them back when I'm homeless and living in a shelter. Seriously!
Every penny of the money will go to lot rent, utilities bills, mortgage, and other bills. I'm not trying to get rich, that's for sure. Please share and share again! The more people see this the better chance I have of keeping my home. Stay in the home where I can still feel my husband's presence and his love. He lived and died in our home.
The upper management person, Charise, called today (4/15/2025) and said that I'll be forced to move next week. This brings me to feeling I don't have a choice but asking all of my friends, family, neighbors, and whoever else I haven't listed. If I get the amount I stated needing I'll be fine with lot rent until June 1st. I need $2000 by next Monday. The electricity and natural gas will be gone soon I'm sure, and the water is already shut off. What isn't for lot rent will go to mortgage, electricity & gas, and get the water bill paid. I don't have kids to move in with or anyone else. I have had an offer for a loft, but I'd have to move back to Indiana and I don't know anything about how many steps are there. It would give me a way to keep my furry kids with me, which is major. I'd have to get a whole new healthcare team, and the signed letter I have from my dr will be worthless there.
This is long, which I apologize for, but I believe a person asking for help should be thorough. Thank you for taking time to read my story, and helping.
