Our Daughter, McKayla, has been struggling with a chronic illness for many years. The "specialists" we have been sent to have drained every bit of our savings. We are still trying to get a diagnosis for her condition. The doctors are fairly certain she has Hypermobility Spectral Disorder, a type of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. She suffers every day from POTS (her heart rate fluctuates wildly depending on her position, causing her to pass out at times), migraines, and abdominal pain with nausea and daily vomiting. In spite of her condition, she is attending college and working part-time, but the college tuition and medical bills continue to mount.
We are now being sent to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, for a definitive diagnosis and treatment plan. However, as a government worker, my insurance is "Federal," so Florida Blue Cross Blue Shield will dictate the amount we are having to pay.
