Please Help Matt Recover From Tragic Accident
Two weeks after Matt Ruizzo become a father, his life was changed again in a tragic accident.
August 8th . . . Matt wanted to remove a huge oak tree in his front yard that was rotting before it fell on someone. His brother was holding a ladder while Matt used the chainsaw. He had only made a small cut when it cracked, broke away, bounced on another tree and flew back. His brother was able to get away but Matt had no time. The tree hit his thigh and crushed his right foot. He was rushed to the hospital by rescue. There they tried to clean it but quickly realized that he needed more care than they could provide. He was then air-lifted to a trauma hospital two hours away. He was evaluated by the best orthopedic surgeons in the area and there was nothing they could do, they had to remove the foot. When he awoke just before midnight that same day, his foot was gone. Two days later, another surgery to remove ankle and about 6 inches of his shin. He is still in the hospital. The tree hit his thigh so hard that it pushed his thigh muscle to his knee which made his skin separate from it. He will be undergoing skin grafts and more procedures to get everything to heal before he can go home. He will be able to get prosthetic, ranging in price from $5000 to $50,000, but that will take 9-12 months. Please help Matt any way you can so he can concentrate on healing. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers so that he may go home soon to be with his fiance and son.
