Please Help Mason Fight Cancer!

Donation protected

Hello Everyone!

My name is Crystal and I’m reaching out with this campaign on behalf of my younger brother, Mason.

Mason just turned 33 and he and his wife Courtney have 2 small sons, Jaxon who is 3 and Branson who is just 8 months old. Courtney cares for the boys at home while Mason works hard to provide for his young family working with concrete in construction for Eagle Builders, out of Blackfalds Alberta. It is hard work! When he’s not working, Mason soaks up the time he has left with his wife and babies. Whether is planning special anniversary celebrations for his wife or wrestling with Jaxon or snuggling with Branson, he is a busy dad and a thoughtful husband.

In May 2020, Mason reached out to his doctor and was told that he has a Neuroendocrine cancerous tumor in his bowel and that the cancer has spread to other parts of his body, including his liver. Since that time, Mason has undergone a barrage of testing and because it is growing fast and spreading, they have been trying to decide on a treatment plan that is safe for removing the tumor and treating the cancer. Mason had an appointment yesterday with the medical team and they decided on a surgical treatment plan. He will have 2 major surgeries simultaneously, the first will be to remove the tumor in his bowel, many of the lymph nodes around his colon, and any cancer they find in that area. The second will be to remove the cancer that has spread to his liver. This is a high risk, complicated surgical undertaking. They still have yet to book a date for this surgery, because the surgeons would like to do further testing before they proceed.

In the meantime, Mason is still struggling to continue to work to provide for his wife and 2 boys, while feeling unwell, and constantly undergoing many invasive and time consuming tests, most of which require him to travel to either Red Deer, or even Calgary, which is 2 hours away from them. These tests require the time that would normally be spent at work, earning a pay check. All of these factors combined have left Mason, Courtney, Jaxon and Branson emotionally, physically, mentally, and financially strained and exhausted.

Myself, and the rest of their extended family have been tirelessly trying to help in whatever ways we can, but we all live provinces away (Manitoba and BC) which makes this very difficult. The distance, along with travel restrictions in place causes extra strain, both emotionally and financially since they have needed help from their families, and will continue to need our help as his surgery and further treatment moves forward.

I’m pleading with all who can to - please, open up your hearts and see if you might be able to offer some assistance to help Mason. Please help ease some of the pressure Mason is dealing with on a daily basis. Please help him so he doesn’t have to worry about whether or not they will have enough money for rent this month. Please help Courtney so she doesn’t have to worry about how she will feed her babies. Please help Jaxon and Branson, so that their Daddy can focus on getting better, so he can be there for them as they grow - so he can fight this monster that has ripped into their family!

The donations from this fundraiser will be used towards living expenses before and during treatment, easing financial strain because of missed work, travel and accommodation expenses for appointments or family assistance, respite care, and any other treatment expenses that arise.

Thank you to all of you who have taken the time to read this and to those who can donate, please know how much it is truly appreciated. Your caring hearts are a blessing to our family!

Please also share this with your family and friends and anyone who might be moved to help this young family win this battle! Thank you!
