Let me start off by saying "the devil meant it for evil, but God will use it for good!"

My son Malik, aka "Smokey" to those that know him best, was senselessly shot on Saturday night at a party, while trying to protect a young lady from danger and usher her out of harm's way. As all HEROES do, his natural inclination to protect, defend, and put the safety of someone else above his own, has cost him, his family, and those that truly love him tremendously over the past several days. Malik remains in ICU on a ventilator, in a medically induced coma. He has already undergone three major surgeries and has more to go. This has been an emotional and physical roller coaster for us, but those that really know my son know that he is strong, determined, and will fight his way back with the help of God!

While Malik continues on what doctor's have said will be a lengthy journey to recovery, we are praying and believing that his healing will be unlike one they have ever witnessed.

We appreciate the continued prayers, calls, messages, support, encouragement, and love that you all have already poured out to him and our family, and we know that his bravery and spirit to live will outshine any plan for his demise.

Considering this unforeseen and senseless crime, we ask for all prayers and donations to help with medical expenses and after care for Malik. He has a long road ahead of him until he heals and is able to due for himself. Anything will help and be appreciated, no matter how small.
