Hi, I’m Maiad, 38, a wife and a mother. Currently diagnosed with Melanoma, stage 4, a type of cancer.

Let me share my story...

In 2014, I was first diagnosed with Stage 2 skin cancer, specifically melanoma. At that time, I had a choice to undergo surgery. Fortunately, with the help of family and friends, I was cleared for 9 years.

Recently, I noticed small lumps in my upper thigh. I immediately sought assistance and underwent several tests. Though I already knew the result, I was still hopeful. Sadly, the cancer is back and this time, it’s reached stage 4, spreading to my stomach, upper chest, and neck.

My doctor immediately recommended immunotherapy for approximately 2 years. The said therapy costs Php 140,000 ($2545) per vial and I need a shot of 2 vials every 3 weeks. This type of treatment is relatively new and quite expensive but has shown great results for current patients. Unfortunately, the cost of the treatment, back and forth to the hospital is quite overwhelming. While my family attempted to explore cost-effective options in government hospitals, the long waiting times only secured me an appointment slot in January 2024. Fearing a deterioration in my condition by then, my family is considering initiating the treatment through private institutions and later transitioning to public healthcare to sustain the plan.

I humbly seek your support to navigate through these financial challenges, allowing me to concentrate on my health and the journey to recovery. Your generous contributions will directly assist in covering my medical costs and day-to-day expenses, particularly during periods when I won’t be able to work and will face a decrease in income.
