Hi everyone.

We never thought we would have to face the big "C" word when it came to our girl Maddie.

Yet, here we are having to confront the fact that our sweet and sassy fur baby has Cancer.

About a year ago, we noticed a mass on Maddie's back leg. We had it checked numerous times throughout the year and the vet told us it was fine and nothing of concern. Then, when the mass burst we took her back and they stitched it up and said that we should keep an eye on it. It ended up not healing properly so we had them check it and Biopsy it, and unfortunately it came back as Cancerous. Maddie has Cutaneous Hemangiosarcoma (Cancer of the blood vessels).

We are hoping that this is the non-aggressive form, but we wont know that until she has her x-rays and ultrasounds done. She will likely need surgery to remove the mass or possibly her leg if they can't get it all. They also are going to give her radiation after the surgery if they can't remove the full mass. The mass is in an awkward spot on her ankle, so it is going to be hard to be removed.

To some people, she may just be "a dog" but to us, she is our baby, therapist, best friend and light. She has gotten us through so many hard times in our lives and has selflessly taken care of our emotional needs. This beautiful creature deserves the world and to live longer. She has a happy life and we want to fight for her because quite frankly, she deserves it.

we are not the type to ask for money from people. In fact, we usually help people as much as we we can. But right now we are struggling to make ends meet as it as and we cannot afford treatment without help financially. We spoke to the Oncology unit and we were given an estimate of a cost between 6k-7k for the testing and surgery to remove the lump(s). Right now, we only have 1 income coming in as my partner is in between jobs, so paying for all of these tests and treatments is going to hit us hard.
