On October 16th, my sixteen year old sister, Madison “Maddie” Constable, was admitted to the hospital as she was disoriented and not feeling well. Doctors quickly discovered Maddie had a staggering 4.8cm tumor in her brain, which is about the size of a lime or lemon. Maddie was later diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma cancer, which is a very aggressive cancer.
This devastating news has left our family in shock and disbelief. Maddie is a vibrant, talented, and loving young girl who has her whole life ahead of her. She dreams of making a positive impact on the world. However, this unexpected diagnosis has turned our lives upside down.
After 3 brain surgeries the doctors at Cornell were able to resect most of the tumor, however, now begins the next phase of her treatment. Maddie will be undergoing 33 sessions of radiation over the course of the next 6.5 weeks, Monday to Friday at Memorial Sloan & Kettering in NYC. This treatment is crucial in her battle against this aggressive cancer, and we are hopeful that it will give her the fighting chance she deserves.
As you can imagine, the medical expenses associated with Maddie’s treatment are overwhelming. We are doing everything we can to provide her with the best care possible, but the financial burden is becoming increasingly difficult to bear. We have decided to create a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for Maddie’s medical expenses, ongoing treatments, and any additional support she may need throughout her journey. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a significant difference in Maddie’s life and give her a fighting chance against this aggressive cancer.
