Please help Luke receive a front wheelchair
Donation protected

Hi there! My name is Irina and I adopted my bipawd Luke from an amazing organization called GWARP - Good World Animal Rescue and Protection. I'm sure you are wondering what happened to Luke's front legs, and I am going to share his story.
Luke was born in Azerbaijan, a country where virtually no animal rights laws exist. These animals are tortured and abused beyond what you can imagine. Luke was a stray, and like many strays, was hit by a car in August when he was around 6 months - 1 years old. A person saw him get hit and did the right thing - they took him to a vet. However, it was not a good vet and he was just looking to make money. Luke only had broken his two front legs, but it was nothing that casts could not have fixed. Instead, the vet informed that amputating one leg was necessary (it was in fact NOT necessary). This vet did not even stitch up Luke's amputation, leading to a severe infection that then spread to the other leg. The vet then amputated the second leg without informing this person who brought Luke in. And again, the vet gave no care to even close Luke's other amputated leg properly.
When the person came back to pick up Luke, they were shocked beyond belief with what was done. They took Luke and reached out to the shelter, GWARP, in Azerbaijan. Without hesitation they took Luke in and immediately hospitalized him. On top of losing both his fronts legs for no reason at all, he was also severely emaciated, dehydrated, and the infection from his legs had spread and created a hole in his chest. Other vets recommended to put him down, but GWARP would not allow it. They did everything necessary to keep Luke alive. They closed the hole in his chest and properly stitched up his amputations. Luke stayed in the hospital for a month, very depressed and completely shut down. However, his spirit started to turn and his resilience and willingness to live is what got him through his darkest moments.
Fast forward, Luke completely healed and was able to be adopted in the United States. Luke's story touched my heart immensely from the moment I first saw him. I prayed every night for him to make it through, and I also prayed to be able to adopt him if there was ever an opportunity. Luke is now here in the United States living his best life with 2 other doggo siblings! He is the happiest dog I have honestly ever seen. He doesn't feel sorry for himself or look at himself as any different. He reminds me everyday what is actually important in life.
I am raising money to fund a front wheelchair for Luke. A wheelchair will help him so much to go on walks with his siblings, Gigi and Andy. And above and beyond what is donated for his cart, I am going to donate back to GWARP, the shelter that rescued Luke. Luke would not be here if it wasn't for GWARP and I am forever grateful to them for saving Luke and many, many other animals in Azerbaijan. They are angels for giving these animals a second chance at life and I hope to give back to them.
Thank you so much for reading about Luke and for donating. I can't express my gratitude enough, thank you all!
