Three months ago, I agreed at very short notice to foster a young dog called Lucas (now Luca) who had been rescued from Cyprus.

At the time, Luca was severely malnourished, lacking confidence, and had no suitable home waiting for him in the UK. I agreed to help him settle and continue his rehabilitation while the charity searched for his forever family.

What I didn't expect was for Luca to completely steal all of our hearts.

Over the last three months, I have watched him transform. He has gained weight, confidence, and trust in people. Every day he becomes a little braver. He loves coming to work with me and meeting all of my client's dogs. He is gentle, affectionate, and has fitted into my life far better than I could ever have imagined.

Luca is still learning how to be a dog. He hasn't quite discovered how to play yet, but seeing his personality emerge a little more each day has been incredibly rewarding.

The charity that rescued Luca now needs a decision from me. The truth is that I can't bear the thought of him being adopted elsewhere. This is his home, and I want to give him the forever family he deserves.

Unfortunately, after recently facing a very large veterinary bill that wasn't covered by insurance, I don't currently have the funds needed to complete Luca's adoption.

I'm therefore asking my wonderful friends, family, clients and fellow dog lovers for help. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help me raise the funds needed to adopt Luca and make his place in our family permanent.

The adoption fee doesn't just help Luca. Every penny goes back into the charity that rescued him, allowing them to continue saving and rehabilitating other dogs just like him, giving them the same chance of having a safe and loving future.
