My name is Carol, and I am asking for donations for my precious daughter & best friend. Ginny is a proud, strong woman who has chosen a career where she has devoted herself to caring for others. It's time we care for her! She really needs our help.
For the past several months Ginny has been experiencing forgetfullness, difficulty concentrating, lack of focus, difficulty making decisions & problem-solving ... which is not her, by any means. Wondering why she couldn't perform like she always has, she was concerned it was the start of dementia. Then, in November, she had an incident that prompted a visit to the ER. She described it as stroke-like symptoms. She was @ work at the time and became disoriented, confused, weak, and said that the words on her computer screen were "bouncing around". Then everything just went grey & cloudy. A CTA was performed in the ED, and she was diagnosed with Carotid Artery Stenosis with 80-99% occlusion. She is not getting sufficient blood & oxygen to her brain!! In addition, her glucose was almost 400, her A1C was 11.6, and they noted fusion in her c-spine, in addition to the conditions that she already has. Since then, she has been seeing a Diabetic Educator weekly, a vocational rehab specialist, her primary care, and traveling back & forth to University of Utah Hospital to be evaluated by specialists. She has also had additional ED & Urgent Care visits, a repeated CT, Brain MRI, and carotid ultrasound. The drive to U of U is about 4 hours round trip. She has been blessed with friends that have helped with prayers, some meals & driving. Unfortunately, Ginny has missed a lot of work, and has been advised not to return to work until further notice. She is currently unable to afford necessary medications, or cover her financial household expenses. She has been started on insulin (in addition to other meds) and she travels 1.5 hours to get it cheaper!
Ginny is scheduled for Vascular Surgery (Carotid Ederectomy) in Salt Lake, on March 8th. She will remain in U of U hospital overnight and, if all goes smoothly, she will be discharged the following day. Hopefully this will resolve some of her symptoms, and she can get back to feeling like herself again. If not, there will be more specialists & further testing to be done.
This has been beyond devastating and terrifying, for Ginny. She's not living; she's existing. I feel helpless. MY ROCK ... my bubbly, positive, courageous baby is in danger. She has severe headaches daily, is terribly depressed, feels hopeless, cries often, and is unable to rest; which is exactly what she needs. No stress!! But, she is completely beside herself; anxious and scared. She has maxed out her credit cards to cover household bills, but the bills are going to continue to add up. She is panicked because this will only get worse without income. I wish to God that I could do something to help, but I can't. This breaks my heart. Ginny is a small person, with a GIANT heart! She is the most caring, compassionate & generous person we know. She has never met a stranger, and has never hesitated to help anyone in need. This time, it's about her. Please help, with anything you can afford. Every little bit will help. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and God bless!!
