Louki was rescued from an abuser a year ago, he is approximately 7 years old. He was in terrible distress, underweight and in pain all over his tiny body. Heartbreaking! Multiple cracks in his skull and a cracked eye socket and has grand mal seizures because of the head injuries (he is on anti-seizure medication every twelve hours for the rest of his life). His little rib cage and sternum were broken which caused him to have a collapsed trachea. Poor Louki’s right hip was broken but thankfully he can walk and run but mostly using three legs. His lower jaw was broken completely in half and since he didn’t receive any medical attention it didn’t heal and now is totally disintegrated which caused all of his lower teeth to fall out. He eats soupy food that I make him (I sneak his meds into it) and he loves it!

The current issue we are dealing with is his damaged/scratched corneas which causes severe light sensitivity and frequent eye infections. He has learned to wear sunglasses (so stinkin cute) and along with eyedrops and antibiotics we have gotten most of it under control, however, the eye with the cracked socket just won’t heal and sadly the vet believes it will likely need to be removed.

We believe he was repeatedly hit with a brush because he freaks if anyone has a brush around him. Our groomer is very gentle with him, only uses combs, and sees him after hours to help keep his anxiety down.

All that being said…….he was an extremely frightened little guy when I rescued him and now he feels so much better and healthier. He is happy and can make the grumpiest person smile. Louki loves his siblings (cat and chihuahua), outside, riding in the car, and just going places in general. He has become very popular on the island and in Port Isabel. He even made a debut in the Brownsville and Harlingen papers.

To think about him living a terrible existence his first 6 years of life is more than my heart can bare. I feel compelled to give him the best life possible for his remaining years. His daily medications are very costly and with the imminent eye surgery, I am reaching out to family, friends and all animal lovers for financial assistance. He has saved me as much as I have saved him! No animal deserves what Louki has been through. Both Louki and I appreciate any help.
