Please Help- Lost Home due to Hurricane Helene

My name is Debra and I’m wanting to share my in-laws' story as they suffer devastation from Hurricane Helene. We are very thankful for any help anyone is able to provide. As we know there are so many suffering just like my in-laws are, we understand if anyone is unable to assist at this time. We thank everyone for their time taken to read this and below are their words:

I’m a 73-year-old school bus driver whose husband is disabled and we just lost everything! We help others every chance we get but have now found ourselves without a home. We couldn’t afford flood insurance, so unfortunately, we’re at a loss at what to do. We lost our home, truck, and even one of our precious cats. In the beginning, we heard a loud sound. That was the sound of our garage door caving in. Not sure how we climbed out a window, but we did, and thank goodness our friend upstairs took us in and saved us! We also have a family friend kind enough to give us a place to stay for a few weeks, which is such a blessing! And we can’t thank the families who have been gracious enough to support us with meals and hands. Any help is greatly appreciated so that we can try and figure out how to rebuild our lives! We feel horrible to have to ask for help; however, we are unfortunately in desperate need.
