Please Help Little Ian To Have Eye Surgery

Hi, my name is Esther Williams and I am fundraising on behalf of the Helping Hands Ministries in Uganda to help a beautiful 3-year-old boy named Ian to have eye surgery.

We met Ian in the latter part of 2022 when his grandmother, who cares for him, took him to the ministry for them to help him get medical attention. His health was very poor because he had a condition called Kwashiorkor which is severe malnutrition. He also had Cellulitis of the eyelid and eye socket and this is a severe type of infection with bacteria and inflammation which caused him to have pain in his eyes. For those of us who remember his heartbreaking videos and photos on the ministry's Instagram page, this was one of the reasons why he used to cry constantly.

His videos and photos touched many hearts. We had set up a GoFundMe campaign for him and thanks to the generosity and kindness of donors, in November 2022 we raised funds to help him get the medical attention he needed. The treatment of his eyes was partly successful because he had partial vision in one eye. Unfortunately, his vision has gotten worst over the past few months and the doctors now recommend that he has an eye operation.

Today, May 8th, 2023, he was taken to the Buguri General Hospital for eye examinations and the Clinical Office provided the ministry with a report which gives details of his condition and the surgery he needs. The cost of the surgery is $4,500 USD however given that this GoFundMe is set up in Canada the amount has to be in CAD and the CAD equivalent is $6,000.

Friends, we know how important our eyesight is and we cannot imagine life without it. Blindness is a very heartbreaking condition and if we can help Ian to restore his eyesight it would be a tremendous blessing for him.
