On oct 19, 2025, 1 rushed Emily to the emergency hospital as she suddenly acted dizzy and began gasping for air . After much testing, She was diagnosed with a rapid onset of pneumonia. The vet recommended putting her in an enclosed "glass" oxygen cage in the intensive care unit where the oxygen could be pumped in directly rather than a mask covering her nose & mouth. Additionally, they started an iv of antibiotics and whatever else they deemed necessary to try and save her life.
The initial prognosis was good. And Emily did in fact start to improve overnight. The vet said she was not strong enough to go home yet so treatment continued. Sadly, in the late afternoon of EmIly's 3rd day in icu the vet called with the terrible news that she had taken a turn for the worse..,(OCT 21, 2025)
--Emily was the absolute love of my life: my best friend and confidante, my guiding light and fierce protector, my sweet, soft comfort on an often times difficult journey. I am devasted and heartbroken at her passing but know how lucky I was to have found her 15 years ago. It was truly a privilege to love and be loved by her--the greatest privilege of my life.
-I am a senior living on a small fixed income. I took out a loan to pay for Emily's emergency care. Although I have had health insurance for Emily since she was a puppy, for this, her final visit they only reimbursed a small portion of the $6,900.00 bill stating that we had already used allowed benefits for this period. I asked to have the claim reviewed which they said they did but to no avail. I am now needing help please to repay the remaining balance of the loan which is $4500. Thank you very much
for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Emily's Mom (Lissa)
